Located inside one of the most beautiful buildings in Rome, the sixteenth-century Palazzo Capodiferro, the Galleria Spada houses an important collection of Baroque painting created during the seventeenth century by Cardinals Bernardino and Fabrizio Spada. The excellence of its art collection, which is still presented in superimposed lines as in a seventeenth-century picture gallery, gives this place a unique charm, accentuated by the characteristic nature of it being a precious family collection.
At the end of the museum itinerary on the first floor, you will visit the Giardino Segreto (Secret Garden), which preserves the most spectacular Baroque architectural work in Rome: the illusionistic (or Perspective) Colonnade created in 1653 by Francesco Borromini for Cardinal Bernardino Spada.
